1. My final project is two dolphins, a mother and a baby, on a rock. I used white clay for the dolphins because I wanted them to be brighter than what I would have had with the red clay.. And I used red clay for the rock because I wanted it to look brown like a rock.
2.The good or strong parts of my peice is how well I made the dolphins look. They look like they are really swimming, and I like how mishapen I made the rock look because rocks arent round, or square. so... I like that...
3. I wish I could have used a light gray for the dolphins but insted I used a very light blue.
4. My theme is basicly the beauty of the ocean, and I made the dolphin look as peacful as possible to suport the theme.
5. My elements are probably... light colors, because that really all I used, was lighter colors with darker speckles for the rock, and light blue for the dolphins.
6. I dont have very much detail for the dolphins becaue dolphins are pretty smooth, but the rock, because I used red clay, has a rough surface like a rock should feel.
7. I learned how to use different clays together to make the colors I'll be useing look better. I also learned that i can make things stick off the side like the tails, if i use a holding device (like a tall lump of clay) to hold it up until it hardens.
8. First, I made the mother dolphin, then the baby, then i made the rock and placed them perfectly, then i molded some clay to hold up the tails how i wanted them until they hardened. Then I carved out the bottom of the rock so it wasnt so heavy. Then I put it in the kiln (still don't know how to say the word) and when it came out I glazed it and put it back in the kiln. And now it's perfect!
9. I didnt really plan my projject at al... I just wanted to make an animal so... i made two dolphins...... so yea..........................................
10. I enjoied this project because I wasn't held back from what I wanted to do. So I think Mr. Purdy should definatly do this again... and again... and again! I don't have alot of plans for art during the summer, I might draw some random doodles here and there, but nothing planned.
